He has been influenced by such trumpet luminaries as Chet Baker, Clifford Brown, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Freddie Hubbard, and Chris Botti.
Richard is quickly becoming a highly sought after trumpeter on the contemporary jazz scene. His new album "Songs From My Heart" has been greeted with rave reviews.
Richard likes warm, romantic music - "intimate jazz" - the kind of music that captures the listeners attention and creates a warm, relaxed, romantic mood. His goal is to allow each instrument to speak in its own voice, and in its own way, creating a rich musical tapestry for the listener.
Richard has a warm, intimate, romantic sound that mixes warmth and emotion with a lyrical west coast cool sound, heavily influenced by Chet Baker. His music blends the romantic cool jazz sound of the 50's with a sense of romance, lyricism, and passion that stirs audiences and musicians alike.
